The HTC One S is an excellent new smartphone with a range of superb features. The problem with a phone offering such a wide array of software and accessories is that they can all have a negative effect on the battery life and the performance of the model. Bitdefender Power Tune Up is an excellent new application for this phone that helps users to make the most of battery capacity and manage their data usage on this model.
There are a number of tricks and tips that can be applied to the settings of the HTC One S to optimise the performance of the phone but the new Bitdefender application does everything for you. This new piece of software is available for free from Google Play and is an excellent accessory for this phone or indeed any other Android device. There are a number of ways to use the application to enhance the battery life delivered by your phone. Users can specify periods of time when certain features of the phone are disabled and therefore place less strain on the battery. Typically this will be during the night when the phone may not be in use but when some features are still activated in case they are needed. In addition to this the phone will also switch into a special power saving mode when the battery level reaches a specified level. This may prove particularly useful for users who may be travelling and have no means of connecting their phone to a PC or a mains charger.
In addition to helping to preserve the battery life of the HTC One S Bitdefender also offers some useful tools that help users to keep track of their data usage. Many modern mobile contracts include a limited data allowance and once this is exceeded the costs can be very expensive to the user. Bitdefender also features a very handy clean up tool which is perfect for people who may be running a little low on storage capacity. This feature gives users a simple screen where they can delete data from the phones internal storage capacity and an external micro SD card if one is being used. Applications can also be deleted from within this area of the application. To help users get the most from this app widgets can be added to the home screen that allow the power saving modes to be easily activated and for data to be monitored without needing to physically launch the application.
Bitdefender Power Tune Up is a great application for the new HTC One S. The software helps users make the most of the limited battery life on the phone and also enables the easy management of data and files.

The Windows Mobile operating system has improved considerably over the past two years and some of the new handsets that support this platform compare very well against their rivals that adopt other operating systems such as Android and iOS. Two of the best windows devices currently available are the Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 so we take a look and see which of these two models comes out on top.
In terms of design we find the Nokia Lumia 900 the most appealing of the two devices. The whole Lumia range of handsets boast excellent design and being the premium model in the range the Lumia 900 is the most attractive of all of them. The phone is not really similar to any other phone on the market which is in contrast to the Titan 2 which looks very similar to a number of other phones that HTC have released over the last two years. The Nokia sports a very angular design and the main body of the phone is made from a single piece of Polycarbonate which feels very robust and looks superb. The device measures 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5mm while the weight of the model tips the scales at a rather heavy 160 grammes. The Titan 2 is an even larger handset thanks to the massive 4.7 inch screen that it incorporates. The model measures 132 x 69 x 13mm but what is surprising about this model is that it weighs 13 grammes less than the Lumia at 147 grammes. The HTC is also a very well built mobile phone and although it lacks the uni body design of its rival it is built from some lovely looking metals that help it to look expensive and also feel very well made. Both of these handsets offer a striking design and great build quality but the Lumia 900 comes out on top thanks to its more unusual appearance and more compact dimensions.
The Nokia Lumia 900 features a 4.3 inch screen which makes excellent use of AMOLED technology to deliver very bold colours and superb viewing angles. The screen can display a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which equates to a reasonable pixel density of 217PPI. This figure is superior to the HTC Titan 2 which can display only 199 pixels per inch thanks to the same resolution being offered on a larger 4.7 inch screen. The HTC display uses S-LCD technology which delivers great image quality although when we tested the phones we found that the colours displayed on this device were not as vibrant as those on the Nokia. In addition to the better image quality the AMOLED screen on the Lumia 900 is also less demanding on the battery which helps the model to offer longer battery life. For users who are looking for a large screen for gaming and movie playback then the HTC will be the phone of choice but anybody prepared to accept a smaller screen will get better results from the excellent Nokia.
The Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 are two superb phones that run on the excellent Windows operating system. Both of these models boast stylish looks but the Nokia does offer a slightly more unusual design while the model also produces superior image quality on its smaller display.

After a very long wait we have finally had the opportunity to spend some time with the excellent new Samsung Galaxy S3. This new device offers some really impressive specification coupled with a wide range of great features. We take a look at this new phone and see how it shapes up against one of the leading smartphones available, the iPhone 4S. Here we see how the phones differ for processing power and also how camera features compare on both models.
Both of these models are very evenly matched when it comes to processing power and performance. The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is the first quad core device to be produced by the company. The models runs on the ARM Cortex A9 architecture which includes a powerful 1.4Ghz Exynos 4212 processor which delivers some exceptional operation speeds. A powerful graphics processing unit is also on hand in the shape of a Mali 400MP chip. As one would expect the model performed flawlessly with no noticeable delay in loading applications or rendering internet pages. The iPhone 4S uses a more modest set up which includes a dual core 1Ghz ARM Cortex A9 based processor and a PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics processing unit. On paper this set up may look inferior to what the new Samsung device offers but in practice it delivers an almost identical user experience thanks to the excellent optimisation of the iOS operating system which makes full use of every element of the processor.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 4S both incorporate excellent camera features capable of capturing superb photographs and high quality video footage. The new S3 includes a still camera capable of recording images at a resolution of 8 million pixels. This feature is backed up by a wealth of additional features including an LED flash and face detection. On area where the Samsung does impress us is with some of the extra features that the camera feature boasts. A great example of this is the multi shot mode which will record a series of photographs in quick succession and then choose the best from this series of snaps. Users are also given the facility to capture photos while recording video footage at the same time. The model features a secondary front facing camera with a 2 mega pixel resolution and video is recorded at a resolution of 1080P. The iPhone 4S features a very similar camera feature to the S3. Video and still image resolution is the same from the primary camera although the Apple phone does lack some of the excellent new features that the Samsung offers. Image quality is very good however and this is helped by the developers including a wider aperture to enhance photographic quality. Both of these new models produce fantastic results but we feel that the new Galaxy S3 offers users more in the way of features in addition to a superior secondary camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 looks set to be a hugely popular model and the handsets compares very well with the iPhone 4S, one of the leading devices currently available. Both device offer excellent performance speeds although the Samsung offers the higher specification while the new S3 outshines it rival for photography thanks to the excellent features that it offers.

It is easy to spend lots of money by using to your iPhone 4S to purchase applications that are available from the iTunes App Store. There are some apps available however that can actually make the user money. Music Magpie is an internet site that offers to purchase your unwanted CD’s, DVD’s and console games. The service is now available as an application for the iPhone 4S, making it easier than ever to turn your unwanted products into cash.
Music Magpie for the iPhone 4S is a well designed piece of software which makes the whole process of selling your goods a very simple affair. One thing we did notice from using the service is that the prices offered for items were quite low and realistically you could expect more from a second hand shop. Taking a pile of CD’s and movies to your nearest shop could prove a time consuming affair while using Music Magpie is quick and very simple. Typically we were offered around 70 pence for a music CD while DVD’s ranged from 90 pence to around £2. We also tried some older Xbox titles and these attracted similar offers. Nobody is going to get rich from using this application but if you have a cupboard full of old items you could make a nice amount of pocket money. In order to sell your goods you must have a minimum of ten items but Music Magpie does send a pre paid package label and if there are over 50 units a courier will be sent to your address to collect the items.
The Music Magpie application is very well designed piece of software for the iPhone 4S. The app makes uses of the primary camera which is located on the back panel of the phone. Simply point the phone at the barcode on your item and the software will give you a value on the item that you have scanned. In order to sell product users need to register an account but this is easily done on the phone. Each item that you scan is placed into your basket and this can be reviewed at any time and any items can be removed if necessary. If you do not have the time to scan all of your items in one session all products are kept in your basket for 48 hours so you can easily return and finish off at a later time. When it comes to receiving your money users can choose to be paid by a cheque or by e voucher and there is even an option to donate your amount to charity should you desire.
Music Magpie is one of those rare applications for the iPhone 4S that actually helps users to make money. The software is well designed and very easy to use. With many people relying on internet services for audio and video playback most consumers will have a plenty of CD’s and DVD’s that they no longer have a use for which can make them money by using this great app.

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 has finally been unveiled and as expected the model boasts very high specification together with some superb new features. The handset looks set to follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy S2 which was launched in 2011. This model went on to become the biggest selling phone of last year and Samsung are keen for the new model to replicate the success of its predecessor. We take a look at some of the key features present on this new phone.
Smart Stay is an interesting new feature on the Samsung Galaxy S3 which makes uses of the front facing camera on the device to optimise the user experience. The secondary camera is used to detect the movement of your eyes so that the handset knows if you are looking at what is displayed on screen or not. Users are notified that this function is working by a small icon that appears at the top of the display. By using this technology the phone will automatically dim the screen if you are not currently viewing any material and therefore improving the battery performance that you can expect from the model. The service can also detect the task that you are currently performing on the phone and make small adjustments to improve your experience.
Another area where the Samsung Galaxy S3 offers some excellent options is when it comes to sharing material. The new Allshare feature enables the handset to be wirelessly connected to a compatible television so that multi media content such as photographs can be easily displayed on the large screen. A second superb sharing feature is incorporated on this model in the form of Buddy Share. This clever technology uses facial recognition to identify people who are featured in photographs that you capture with the handset. The phone can then automatically text or email these photos to the person involved. The sharing features on the S3 are very impressive and it helps to make using your phone a much more social experience.
In a bid to compete with the popular iPhone 4S the new Samsung Galaxy S3 includes the new S Voice service. This voice recognition software enables users to control the phone with their own voice. S Voice currently supports 8 different languages including English, German, Korean and Spanish. A multitude of different tasks can be performed with this facility including initiating calls, sending e mails, requesting a song and waking the handset. Each of these tasks is performed with simple commands such as “snooze” which will silent the alarm on the phone and set it to activate again after a designated amount of time.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 not only impresses with its excellent specification but also with some of the excellent features that are included. S Voice is a great rival to the Siri service on the iPhone and the new Smart Stay technology helps preserve battery life by fully utilising the front facing camera on the phone.
