The iPhone 4S features an excellent messaging facility that enables users to keep in touch with one another by sending short text messages. Despite the phone offering this excellent feature many users still opt to install additional messaging services that make it easier to chat with friends and family. Telefonica have launched their own application called TU Me which is perhaps the most impressive messaging system for the 4S that we have encountered.

Telefonica is one of the largest private telecommunication companies in the world and the number one Spanish multinational company. They have decades of experience in this area which they have applied to this very impressive new application for the iPhone 4S. The software is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store and competes directly with other similar applications such as Whatsapp and Viber. Where TU Me differs from many rival platforms is that it enables users to make voice calls and leave voice messages. In addition to this the usual features are all present such as the option to send short text messages, multi media files and location details. The application presents user with a very well designed interface that displays all content in a timeline which can be easily scrolled. A full record of all interactions is kept by the application and users can also search for a specific contact quite easily.

The iPhone 4S offers a wide range of great connectivity options and this is perfect for the Tu Me application. For people who spend much of their time travelling the software will work over a 3G connection which offers excellent data transfer speeds. A range of other mobile network connections are supported on a variety of worldwide networks. In addition to these types of connection the application also has the ability to work over WiFi networks. Not only does this type of connection provide the ultimate speeds but it also saves users needing to rely on a monthly data allowance. Stephen Shurrock is the Chief Commercial Officer for Telefonica Digital and he commented, “TU Me puts all your communications needs into one place, for free, and is a great way for people to stay in touch with those close to them”. At present the TU Me app is only available on the iOS platform but it is due to be launched for Android devices later in the year with other platforms set to follow close behind.

The TU Me software for the iPhone 4S is one of the most impressive communication applications currently available for this device. A simple interface makes the app a pleasure to use while the ability to instigate voice calls is a feature not boasted my many other pieces of rival software.

These limited edition phones will come with the Visa Paywave application pre installed to enable users to make the most of the NFC features that the model boasts. Visa co-sponsor the games and they hope that by the time the opening ceremony begins there will be 140 thousand contactless payment terminals in the UK. Money will then be debited from the users bank account thanks to debit card details being stored on the phone. DJ Lee, the executive vice president of Samsung and the head of their sales and marketing division commented, “The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind and is the ideal device to showcase the ease and convenience of Visa’s mobile payment application at the London 2012 Olympic Games”.

The Olympic Games is not only perfect for companies such as Visa to launch new payment systems but it is also ideal for Samsung to market their new flagship handset. After months of speculation the device was unveiled last week at a major PR event at Earls Court, London. The model boasts some super features which make it one of the leading devices currently available. The handset features a large 4.8 inch Super AMOLED screen which offers a very high resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Anybody who is planning on visiting an Olympic event and is lucky enough to have a Samsung Galaxy S3 will be able to capture superb still images and video footage. The handsets offers an 8 mega pixel camera and Full HD 1080P video capture. Users even have the ability to take a photograph while recording a video clip at the same time.

Blackberry currently boast one of the most extensive ranges of mobile phones. This line up includes entry level Curve devices and more premium handsets such as the Blackberry Bold 9900. The company also recently unveiled their new Blackberry 10 operating system which they hope will help them to compete with other leading platforms such as iOS and Android. The bad news for owners of existing Blackberry devices is that this new software will not be made available for current models and new models will be launched that feature this new software.

The news that the new Blackberry OS will not work with existing handsets will disappoint thousands of users especially those who currently own flagship devices like the Bold 9900. Representatives from RIM, the company who produce the range, have commented that there is one device that will support the new platform and this is the excellent Playbook tablet. There are no exact dates about when the Playbook will make the change but we would expect to see it happen very shortly after the official launch which will be during the third quarter of 2012. Although the current range of smartphones will not support Blackberry 10 there is do doubt that RIM will continue to provide users with updates for existing platforms so that these phones will continue to provide excellent features that compare well with phones running on other software.

It looks as though the Blackberry Bold 9900 will cease to be the flagship model in the RIM range as it is expected that a number of new models will launch alongside the new software. This does not mean that the phone is out dated as it still is one of the leading phones currently on the market. The Bold 9900 offers an excellent 286PPI pixel density on its 2.8 inch screen. Although this screen is much smaller than most other smartphones it is worth remembering that the 9900 features a full qwerty keypad. This is a feature not present on many new phones and it is one of the main reasons why a large number of consumers still favour Blackberry handsets. The model sports a powerful 1.2Ghz processor which delivers performance speeds that are comparable to many dual core devices thanks to the excellent power management that the Blackberry OS offers. Other excellent features include a 5 mega pixel camera and 720P high definition video capture.

Although its days as the head of the Blackberry family may be numbered, the Bold 9900 still offers a wealth of great features that make it one of the ultimate handsets on the market. The keypad is an obvious attraction but a great screen and powerful processor also impress on this model.

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 has been recently unveiled and it is a model that the manufacturers hope will follow in the footsteps of its popular predecessor, the Galaxy S2. We have been taking a look at how this new device differs from the S2 and have established that although the model boasts a vastly superior screen there is little to choose between the models in terms of design. Here we compare some other elements of the two devices to see if any other improvements are evident.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was the first model to be launched by the company that incorporated a powerful dual core processor. Even though the model was released over 12 months ago the chipset that it used still compares very favourably with many mid range devices that are being released. The handset features an ARM Cortex A9 processor that is clocked at 1.2Ghz. This processor forms part of the Exynos 4210 chipset which also boasts a very capable Mali 400MP graphics processing unit. Although this set up helps the model to compete with some great mid range phones it does not match what many new premium devices have to offer but the new Samsung Galaxy S3 features a chipset that will give any handset a run for its money. The model features a powerful quad core processor that is clocked at 1.4Ghz. Although there are few applications available that can take full advantage of all four cores there are many in development and when they are released we will see a big improvement in performance speeds. The S3 actually uses the same graphics processing unit as its predecessor but this chip is still regarded as one of the very best available so changing it would be pointless. With double the amount of cores and more power the processor on the new S3 is capable of delivering performance times that better nearly every other phone available including the Galaxy S2.

Another area where the new Samsung Galaxy S3 makes some big improvements over the S2 is with its photography features. The new model enables users to capture still photographs at 8 mega pixel resolution. Although this equals what many current smartphones offer what impresses us most is the range of excellent features that accompany the camera facility. A great example of this is the ability to record HD video and capture still photographs at the same time. Other great features include a rapid shot mode that records 3.3 photos per second and automatically picks the best one and also the phones ability to share photographs with friends by using facial recognition. The Galaxy S2 offers the same still photo resolution but with a much more basic set of features including touch focus and an LED flash. Both handsets offer 1080P video resolution although the S3 can also deliver 720P footage from the secondary camera on the phone. The two Galaxy device both produce outstanding image and video quality but the S3 boasts much more in the way of features in this area.

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is an excellent device that boasts some big improvements over the Galaxy S2. The model features a more powerful chipset which includes a quad core processor while photography is aided by some excellent new facilities.

There is no question that the Samsung Galaxy S2 was one of the smartphone success stories of 2011. This powerful mobile device has sold over 20 million units and still offers specification that eclipses what many new models can offer. In a bid to keep ahead of rival manufacturers the company how now unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S3, the successor to the popular S2. We compare the two devices to see how they differ in terms of screen technology and design.

One area where there are some big differences between the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the S2 is screen technology. The S2 features a large 4.3 inch screen which uses Samsung’s own Super AMOLED technology to produce some of the best image quality currently available. The model offers users a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels which means that 217 pixels can be displayed per inch. The new S3 model has raised the bar in this department by not only increasing the size of the display but also the resolution that it can offer. The new model features a very large 4.8 inch screen which is only slightly smaller than the massive display offered on the popular Galaxy Note. Once again this screen makes use of Super AMOLED technology but this time with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This improved quality has a major effect on the pixel density which increases to an excellent 306 pixels per inch. This may be just short of what the iPhone 4S can offer but for a screen of this size this figure is really very impressive. In terms of screen technology the new S3 not only features a larger display but also one that totally eclipses it predecessor for technology.

When it comes to design we find that these two devices are a little more evenly matched. One area where we hoped that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would improve on the S2 was by using less plastic in the construction of the phones chassis but sadly this is still the main material and therefore the phone feels less robust than rival handsets like the iPhone 4S and the HTC One X. Despite offering a much larger display the new S3 manages to squeeze it into a body that is not much larger than the S2 thanks to a very slim bezel that surrounds the screen. The new handset boasts a design that is much curvier than the S2 which will please some consumers although those who favour a more angular design may prefer the older device. The S2 is available in a black or white finish but interestingly the traditional black option is not available with the new model. Users are given the choice of an attractive blue finish or a white variant.

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is a superb new phone that is superior to its predecessor in terms of screen technology. When it comes to design and build quality however the model offers no dramatic improvements over the very stylish Galaxy S2.
