The Outdoor Essentials

By: Kenny F Leichester

Patio furniture are different from indoor furniture and it requires great care since it is exposed to harsh outdoor environment. That is why patio furniture is commonly made from weather resisting materials. Teak is one of the most popular material for the outdoor because it contains natural silica that prevent fungal decay and other effects of water such as rotting, swelling and warping and chemical effects too. Teak is also resistant to fire, acid and alkalis.
Teak is found in the dense monsoon forest of the South East asia. They have tall trunk and deciduous leaf. Teak is a popular choice because of many factors. One being the teak wood bears natural oil that makes it unnecessary to varnish. Teak especially from older forests are one of the best in the sense that they are not prone to split and water damage. Teak can resist water very well as well as insect. The wood has no effect from chemical product such as suntan lotion, body oil or pool water. It is also does not react with sea water and many other elements.
The color of teak wood is natural honey brown and this makes stain and pain unnecessary. The wood will turn beautiful grey as it ages but you can revert back to the natural color simply by sanding the wood lightly. Grade “A” teak furniture is the best of its kind and it is so because it does not have knots or defects. Today, many more materials are used to make outdoor furniture. This includes stones, metals, vinyl, plastics, glass, and treated woods. Aluminum also has its fare share in the outdoor furnishing business because of its robustness. Aluminum is also long lasting provided that it is well taken cared of. If it is exposed to substances such as suntan lotions, perspiration and car exhausts, the coating will be damaged. Therefore, aluminum should be washed frequently at least once a month with warm water and mild washing liquid.
Patio umbrellas and outdoo heaters are also items that will ensure the outdoor area you have created will be fully utilized. A tool to protect us from the rain and sun, a patio umbrella takes on many colors, shapes and sizes as well as made from many different fabrics. You will be amazed at the many different usage of patio umbrellas such as the ones that completely blocks sunlight (cast solid shadow) to those that repel rain. Patio umbrellas also have valence on their edge which makes is fancier and also a great marketing tool. This is because the company logo and slogan can be on it. On a side note, the patio umbrella is an inexpensive option when compared to installing high grade frame.
Outdoor heaters will ensure people who use the patio during colder climates will be able to stay warm. Outdoor heaters are available in the form of gas patio heaters, quartz or ceramic electric lamps, and wood burning chimenea and fire pits.
The heater works like indoor heater in a sense that it emit heat and transfer it the objects and living things around it. With the outdoor heater, you can fully utilize your patio during fall or even early spring. Have the freedom to enjoy your patio whenever you want and only then will you be fully satisfied.
You will have the luxury to enjoy the outdoor longer if you have good quality heater. They come in many forms such as hanging, standing, or table top patio heater. You can find many variety for fuel sources too such as propane, natural gas, infrared, or electric. The infrared technology has developed enormously and has now been able to accomodate the needs of residential patio, restaurant, club house, or any special event area.
The infrared heating is popular mainly because it is much safer to use, easy to use and also economical than most types of heating. The heaters can be controlled to cater for most outdoor activities such as an evening barbeque to outdoor breakfast. The infrared heating offers 40,000 BTUs of heat and is adequate enough for most activities.
